Trailer Logo

This is a first example of our first logo. On here we just tried out some ideas to see how it would look like. We are still working on it an we are going to be doing some improvement on it.This is the start of out second idea. We thought that we could use this picture and write `Scream Productions` on the band. We tried out different fonts to see which one was going to be the besrt for our second idea:

This is our third production logo design, the image was drawn by Jane Turner, we tried using more
original designs

Here we have our fourth and final design, i wanted to use colours that represent horror and danger by using red and black, there is also some blood in this image which represents horror.

Dolby

Lots of impressive work here; I particularly think that your focus group video has been productive and the RMA analysis shows a great understanding- well done.
When analysing the posters for the film release, focus on shot type, layout, framing and composition as you will need to think of this carefully when creating your own.
Also, you say the target audience very early on is only male- did your research lead you to this as many women do like horror?!

Proposal feedback

Based on our proposal and our feedback on the work we have done so far we have come find that we need to extend our research and look into distrubution and making our video viral and more importantly how to get our trailer seen by our target audience. We will be looking at posting our trailer on mutiple social networking sites, cinema websites and to get them to be the feature trailers before films in cinema. We also need to work more on our storyline, and especially our story board.

Further research and planning blog ideas

New Cast List

When doing our story board we found that the story line for the trailer did not need as many characters as it over complicated things, we also slightly changed the doctors role to a nurse role that instead of diagnosing Elton with schizophrenia, gave him coulselling for it.

Nurse grey played by Samantha Urry
Gives Elton Counselling for his schizophrenia
Schizophrenic person played by Elton Urry
This is the main character, he has been having nightmares for some time now about a clown. This clown soon becomes a hallucination and tells him hes going to hurt his family and to kill the ones he loves. The bad hallucination of the clown does horrible things and hurts people around Elton little does he know the actions that the clown makes are actually being done by himself.
Younger Brother played by Kurtis Urry
Kurt is Eltons younger brother, he is close to Elton but recently Eltons actions toward Kurt seem out of character and threatening as of late
Clown Hallucination played by Elton Urry
Eltons evil hallucination

Prop List

Created with Padlet

After designing the prop and costume list we decided to change Eltons Costume slightly, we will have him wear a band T-Shirt because we feel that it is important for Elton to express himself as the young adult that he is that listens to rock and metal music because this makes him someone that our target audicence can relate to as he is part of a social group that would ideally watch a horror film or trailer.

Auditions

Part of our task was to do audition in order for us to choose our characters, however because we had a specific idea of who we wanted in our trailer we decided not to have audition and choose the characters straight away. This is because:

* We chose Samantha Urry as our nurse that give Elton counseling because she has a lot of experience as in real life she is a nurse. We thought that due to her having those skills already it would be easier for us as we will not have to tell her how to act or what to say to her patient.

* Elton Urry was then chosen as our main character so the individual that has schizophrenia because he  is the same age as our target audience so he would appeal to them and furthermore he is the right age range for someone who has schizophrenia and this makes our trailer even more realistic.

* We then chose Kurt Urry as the young brother because as you can see from the surname his Elton little brother in real life and their is a relationship already built between those two so we thought that having him played the little brother in our trailer would make it easier for Elton to act just as he would in normal life. In addition to this we are trying to make our trailer as realistic as possible and having members of the family play together is a good way of doing that. This is because the audience might be able to recognize some similarities between them which could create tension as they might think that this is their normal life.

* Our last character was the clown who is played by Elton. This is because we wanted to have a sort of twisted end as our audience may not be expecting him the be the clown. It also makes the trailer even more interesting as it might raise questions among the audience such as Why did this happen? Why did he portray himself as a clown?

Makeup Tests
Here are some examples of makeup we will use in our trailer

Storyboard and script

Mise-en-scene

In this first moodboard I chose these images because they show emotions we will represent in our trailer, the first image is of a man that looks scared, this we will show using Elton when he sees the clown. We also have a picture of a man screaming, a woman pullin her hair screaming and a man crying, these expression will also be shown by Elton when he expresses his anger and frustration with the clowns evil intentions. We then have some images of blood, the two images of chelsea smiles represent the scene when the clown begins to cut his face. The bloody hands, mirror and sink also represent the scene where the clown cuts his face however when these images are used the camera shows Elton. The wig represents the clown. the house represent Eltons house and the Mood in the sky represents night.

The images in the second mood board were chosen because the first picture is dark and scary same as the picture of the bedroom, we will use similar settings in our trailer to represent our chosen genre. Again their are a lot of images of clowns, emotions and blood which we will use, the clowns main weapon will be the knife. Then all the writing represents Eltons mental illness and we will possibly have him writing the name of the clown over and over or possibly numbers. The clours are mainly red, white and black which represents danger and darkness which is an important aspect of horror.

In terms of location the majority of our trailer is based inside Eltons house, this can also be seen in many popular horror films such as Insidious and The Conjuring. These locations are realistic because the house is Eltons actual home and as we found from doing our focus group the more realistic and believable the setting the scarier.
In terms of the style of the house we are using to film, it is very modern and not particularly scary, however we wanted to use a house that looks modern and that is used as a family home.
The lighting we will use in the house will, for the majority of the trailer be dark and gloomy to show that it is night time and to show the presents of the dark character know as the clown.
Colours associated with horror tend to be black, white and red because they represent danger and darkness, so for trailer we will be using these colours in Eltons costume, by having him wear black jeans a black T-shirt and a red button up shirt on top, the clowns costume, who has a black, white and red face paint, red hair and the costume is black and white, and finally in the mirror scene the sink and mirror are white but get covered in blood.
The expession of the different characters in this trailer are crucial  for portraying the genre correctly. Samantha Urry who plays Nurse Grey in our trailer must talk very calmly and comforting toward Elton as she needs him to feel safe talking to her as she is his councillor, therefore her facial expressions will be very soft and relaxed.
Kurts character because he is acting as himself his character is very natural and he is relaxed and content in our trailer however after having a short conversation with his brother Elton when he comes home he begins to show concern because he is not quite himself.
When Elton acts the part of the main character who has schizophrenia he is very parinoid and anxious, in result of this his facial expressions show panic and confusion.
When Elton is acting the part of the clown he either does not show any emotion, this shows that he maybe isn't human so he doesn't show emotion. The only time that the clown does smile its a sinister and very intimidating smile because when he does smile its because he is about to hurt or kill someone.

Representation in our trailer

Locations list

House Exterior

The very first shot in our trailer will be outside, this will be the scene when Elton is driving home. However in this scene it will not be day time as we want to show Elton coming home in the evening because shortly after he does come home he goes to bed.

Kitchen/ Dining room

This room will be used to film the conversation between Elton and his nurse that visits him for counselling each week. This is an important scene in our trailer as it better explains to the audience what Elton's condidtion is and that he is mentally unstable. This is explained by the questions asked by 'Nurse Grey'.

Down stairs hallway

We will be using this scene in the beginning of our trailer when Elton comes home, he will walk through this room into the living room. He will then have a conversation with his brother, Kurt. Following on from that conversation he will go up the stairs and off to bed. This is an important scene because ot shows you how Elton got from one room to another which is an important part of continuity. This also helps to give the audience a better feel for the setting and the scale of the house.

Living Room

The Living room scene is when Elton comes home from work and walks through the house into the living room, here he sees his brother Kurt and they have a short conversation. In the conversation we see that Kurt is happy and relaxed where as Elton on the other hand is paranoid and anxious.

Landing

For this scene we will be filming on the landing, from this shot we are looking out of Eltons room from his point of view. From his point of view we can see his brothers bedroom door. This is went we first encounter the clown in the trailer.

Bedroom

This picture is of Eltons bed room, I only took a picture from this angle because these is an angle will be using in our trailer. The picture is going to be used when Elton takes his medication and when he wakes in the night.

Sink and mirror area in bedroom

This is the mirror and sink area in Eltons bedroom, here Elton has a rather disturbing encounter with the Clown, this is possibly the longest scene in our trailer, this is also where we have a rather graffic and gory scene as a result of the encounter Elton has with the clown.
